Working With Your Patterns
First lets start by defining exactly what our
patterns are. You may not know it but you are viewing .jpg images right now, the
logo at the top of |

What Our Patterns Are Not: Patterns are not Pre-Printed on Paper. Patterns are
not Plans! Patterns are not Vector Format images.
1. How do I view and print my patterns? |

| The most basic way to view and print your patterns is
by using your Web Browser. Once you have Downloaded and Opened your packages you will have
a file filled with a whole bunch of image files, these are your patterns. You can use your
Browser right on your computer (you don't connect to the web) to open your patterns.

| Netscape Browser A. Open Netscape B. On 'Dial-up Connection' select Cancel C. Select 'File' on menu bar D. Select 'Open Page' this will open a window. E. Select 'Choose File' on 'Open Page' window F. In the window that says 'Look In' Find your patterns file G. Select 'Open' H. Click on your patterns file folder, select 'Open' I. In window that says 'Files of types' select "All Files" J. Pick one image and click, select 'Open' K. On 'Open Page' windows select 'Open' L. Turn on your printer. M. Select 'File' N. Select 'Print' |
MS Internet Explorer A. Open Explorer B. On 'Dial-up Connection' select 'Work Offline' C. Select 'File' on menu bar D. Select 'Open', this will open a window E. | On many Windows systems you can right hand click on a pattern file and select "Open", or double left hand click, and it will automatically open your Web Browser and load the image/pattern in your browser. | |
2. How come when I print my patterns only a portion of the pattern prints? |

Many of our patterns are sized extra large to give you plenty of pattern to work with, for the most part these larger patterns are not designed to print on a single 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. This large size has many advantages, many folks will need a larger pattern for a larger project, and perhaps use, say, 4 sheets of paper to print one single pattern. Then tape the sheets together to form one larger pattern ready for tracing. The larger patterns are much more versatile then smaller images could ever be. It is always much easier and the results much clearer and detail crisper to reduce the size of a large pattern then it is to enlarge the size of a small pattern. |

The eagle pattern on the left is typical of one of our larger patterns. If you were able to print it straight from the package and paper size and the printer were large enough it would measure roughly 10"x 16" |

Without re-sizing the image you can print most of this
pattern using 3 standard sheets of paper. Many printers will give you |

Or, again without re-sizing the image you could use 4 sheets. |

2a. What's all this about "re-sizing" the pattern, how do I do this? At this point we must discuss....Image Editing Programs.
Folks that have and use Image Editing Programs simply re-size our patterns to suite their needs, whether it be to make larger, smaller, mirror, flip, rotate, cut the pattern up into separate pieces and then rearrange the pieces to form a completely new pattern. Re-sizing is a very simple and basic function of an Image Editing Program.

Paint Shop Pro An excellent Image Editing Program! Easy to learn and use and very reasonably priced. Very powerful and large assortment of tools. They also offer free downloads of the program to try out! Adobe Photo Deluxe Another good Image Editing Program. Very easy to learn and use, not nearly as powerful as Paint Shop Pro, but a good "beginner" type of program. It is very often given away free many times with your printer software (check the CD it may be right there!). Adobe Photoshop The "GranDaddy" of Image Editing Programs. Very powerful and very expensive! Recommended for advanced users or for folks who really want the very best when it comes to Image Editing Programs. |

Lets look at just a few basic things you can do with our patterns

Combine right and left facing to form a new pattern. | |

Need a close-up of just the head no problem using a Image Editing Program, and yet another new pattern is formed. | |
| The eagle serves as an example only, if you look through our patterns you will see many that would be much more suitable for the mirroring, flipping and combining. Lets take two different patterns and put them together to form a completely new pattern. |
