FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Digital Pattern Packs for Download to your Computer

          DIGITAL PATTERNS

  • What are digital patterns?
Our patterns are computer images made up of pixels, just like any image you see on the internet. The images you are seeing on this web page are digital images.  Web images come in several formats, we use the .jpg format at 100 dpi (pixels per inch).  Each pattern is sized so that it can be printed on 8 1/2" x 11" printer paper directly from the package.
    Working with your Patterns

  • What do you mean "ready for download"?
Because our patterns are digital they need to loaded onto your computer hard drive for your use. Downloading a file is a basic and necessary skill as a new computer user to learn.  This is the process of taking information off the internet and saving it to your computer.
    Basic Downloading

  • Can't you just mail them to me?
No!  Since our patterns are in digital format there are no stacks of paper patterns in our studio.  Our designs only exist in cyberspace until you download the package and print the images from your computer's printer.

  • Why digital patterns and not plain old paper designs?
Digital patterns are more versatile then paper patterns. Once you have them on your computer hard drive you can easily change their size, shape, and even direction with just a click using a graphics program.  You can take an image of a duck pattern, blow it up to use on a door panel, then shrink it down for a matching jewelry box design ... all right from the conveinence of your computer desk.  Once you have the images just the way you want them you then print the patterns with your computer printer.  Easily make one or one hundred copies, any time you want them. For more in-depth information please visit:  Working with your Patterns

    DOWNLOADING YOUR PACKAGES

  • I have never downloaded before, how do I do it?
We have several excellent pages posted on our site that will lead you step-by-step through the process of downloading our pattern packages.  If after following these instructions you are still having problems, drop us an e-mail for some personal assistance. For more in-depth information please visit: Basic Downloading,  Working with your PatternsHere's what you can do!

  • Can I try downloading a pattern package before I buy?
YES!!!  We offer a free pattern package every season just for this reason.  Go to Free Gift Package where you can see our current pattern offering.  The links to our Downloading Instructions  are also listed on that web page.  Practice downloading from the internet on us! Plus since our Free Gift Package is stuffed full on freebie patterns you get to practice printing the designs to see just how easy it is.

  • How long will it take to download a package?
Download time is dependent on your type of internet connection and the speed of your connection.  On the average a large package will take between 10 to 20 minutes on a typical 28.8 KBS telephone line connection.

  • Do I have to download everything I ordered at one time?
No, take as long as you want!  Once you have purchased your pattern packs you have full access to them at any time.  You can download a few at a time and then return on another day to access a few more, work at your own conveinence.

    ORDERING AND E-MAIL RESPONSES

  • I ordered online or over the phone but have not recieved an e-mail from you about my patterns?
Every order is hand processed through the studio, we do not use an automated response for orders.  Pattern Package orders are processed promptly, typically within 24 hours...usually less! The most common problem for a delayed response is an error on your order form for your e-mail address.  When there is an e-mail address error your letter is bounced back to us as 'undeliverable'.  If after 24 hours you have not recieved a response from our studio, please e-mail us a quick note.  We can use the address from your note and resend your order.

  • I know my e-mail address was correct, but I still have not recieved my download instructions?
If you are sure you have given us a correct e-mail address please check your e-mail box with your internet provider.  If your box is full it will not accept new e-mails.  You will need to clean out your e-mail account of unnecessary letters to make room for new e-mails.  Please  contact your internet provider for further instructions.  Some internet providers have 'blocks/filters' on your e-mail account so that you receive e-mail only from those on your 'buddies/fiends list'.  You may need to add our e-mail address to this listing.  Again, please contact your IP Service for more information.

  • Can I order over the phone?
Yes!  Please call us at 301.829.0431 during normal business hours.
    Normal Business Hours:

PATTERN FORMATS AND STYLES

  • Do you have a pattern of ... a giraffe standing on his head in a snow storm ... scuba diving snorkel apparatus, model number 508-A... ?
No!  All of the patterns that we have available are posted on our website.  We don't have anything hidden in the desk drawers or shelves, we don't hold patterns back.  If you don't see it posted on the site, we haven't created a pattern of it yet. We do keep a running list of requested pattern ideas and topics.  So if you are looking for something in particular please drop us an e-mail and we will add it to our 'to-do' listing.

  • I am using a computerized laser engraver, are your patterns in vector format?
NO!  All patterns in the packages are in .jpg (raster) format, 100 dpi. You will need to convert the patterns with an image editing program to vector format for use with your computerized system.  We do not offer vector format patterns because of the prohibitive cost to both you and us.

  • I do embroidery ... quilting ... scroll cutting ... why don't you redesign your patterns for my craft?
We focus on fine line patterns and designs that are versatile to any craft or hobby with an emphasis on wood carving. However, we do not have the time to focus on every type of craft.  We have found that with a small amount of work on your part any pattern on our site can be converted by you into the format that you need.

© COPYRIGHT  Click here for full Copyright Statement

  • Your patterns are copyrighted can I use them for my projects?
YES!!!  These patterns are made and sold for the purpose of craftsmen and hobbyists to create finished projects using the patterns.  You are welcome to make as many works from the patterns as you wish.  It is the patterns, designs, and articles that are copyrighted and may not be reproduced in any form for distribution without our consent.  This restriction includes any form of digitizing the patterns for use with computerized machinery then distributing that digital format. Please do not photocopy or print copies of the patterns, designs, or articles to either give away to friends, post in a newsletter, or sell.

  • Can I sell my finished work made with your patterns?
ABSOLUTELY!!! We are delighted to hear of success stories from our
hobbyists and craftsmen that have used our designs in their work to create an income for themselves.
